Correction: "Windows Explorer has stopped working"

Corrected post: Over the weekend I picked up a virus, which was mostly
caught in time. I cleaned my system, deleted the three files, and rebooted.

Since then, As my computer reboots, I get a " windows explorer has stopped
working" message, then windows rexplorer reboots. Even when I start up the
computer in
safe mode, the same thing happens.

I have a dell deminsion 2500 running vista.

Thanks for any/all help!

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

After 16 hours I discovered that Vista, by default, restricts functions that
may help solve this problem. For me, the following fixed problems that I
encountered with programs stopping including Windows Explorer, IE7, Yahoo,
Outlook, Media Player 11 and a host of others. This was after Dell told me to
format my hard drive and reinstall XP2 then install the Vista upgrade ....

i have spent months and months fixing min and the thing that finally worked for me was updating my chipset drivers (part of the graphics card) and the graphics card its self never had a problem since. if you cars is an intel one go on the web site go to the download bit and it can do a scan on your system and update your drivers
