Problem installing Zune software with XP Media Center

I have windows XP media center edition. I have automatic updates turned on, I
recently downloaded the SP3 for media center edition. I have recently tried
to download and install the zune software on my computer but it says that my
version of media center isn't compatible. I need to upgrade to the newer
version, I can do this by going microsoft's website and/or downloading the
newer version through turning on my automatic updates. I have went to the
site and downloaded all the critical updates, all the software updates that
correspond to the software I have, and the optional updates that also
correspond to what I actually have and use on my computer. Even after all
this, nothing is working. I love my zune, and I am using the same media
center edition disc that I used to install the OS on my old laptop too. Zune
worked fine on there, but not on my new computer. I am thoroughly confused.
any help you guys can give me?

I'm having the same problem you are. Did you ever find a solution?

I'm having the same problem. I used to have it installed, and it never gave
me any problems. I just put in a new motherboard and video card, and need to
reinstall all my programs. Now it won't let me install it. I switched to
Zune because iPods are nothing but headaches, but if I can't install zune,
    then what's the point?

I can't be of any help, but I'm having similar issues as well. If anyone has found a solution, I'd love to hear it.

I ran into this problem recently, and I knew it could be done, because I'd done it before (I just couldn't remember how, until now!). To install the Zune software on Media Center 2002, you've got to install all the update Rollups (they're like service packs). I believe there are two of them, and the second one you'll install will basically upgrade you to Media Center 2005, including the Windows Media Format 11 runtime (though it will still show 2002 on your system settings). But first you need to install the .Net Framework 1.1 and the .Net Framework 1.1 SP1. These downloads can all be found Microsoft's website.

I finally figured it out, but I couldn't figure out how to get back here to
tell everybody. There was an update I had to download for Media Center which
I had the hardest time finding. I only found it by searching for it
specifically. Some different player I tried to download told me I needed
that update. I think it was the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center
2005. try searching for that specifically and installing it.

I know this is resurrecting an two year old thread but I registered just to say thanks. I've been trying to install the Zune program my friends PC for the better part of a week and I just couldn't figure out how to get that damn Zune software to install. This whole experience reminds me of why I switched to MAC two years ago. :)
