    Re: Error Code: 0x643

That depends entirely on the context.

    1. What version of Windows is running?
    2. Which update KB number was being installed at the time?

    Re: Error Code: 0x643

Please search your entire hard disk for either or both of the following
files, and, if you find them, delete them.

    Flash.ocx
    Swflash.ocx

Then try update 913433 again. Does this solve your problem?

    Re: Error Code: 0x643

    No, different solution.

    Please download
    http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip and unzip it.
Use the tool to zap .NET 2.0 (rather than any .NET 1.1 installation), then
run Windows Update again. You might have to reinstall .NET 2.0, and then
    917283 again.

They are independent. 2.0 does not supersede 1.x. You might even need
    both.

If you are having problems installing .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1,
    then first check out:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899619

If that doesn't work, then use control panel Add/Remove Programs to
uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and then re-install a freshly
downloaded copy of .NET Framework 1.1, then apply the .NET Framework Service
    Pack 1 to it.

I can not install the windoes critical update "Microsoft NET Framework
version 2 (KB922770) on my computer and am getting the error code: 0x643.
Does anyone know what this means, and how can I install the update, if at
    all?

I un/reinstalled .NET framework 2.0 and was finally able to install KB922770.
Out of frustration, I was about to mark the update "hide" so it would stop
    showing up in my toolbar.
Thanks again for saving what's left of my sanity, whatpatch!

Go to page 6 of this forum read "Error 0x643 RESOLVED" half way down.
IF you follow it your problem should be solved. Good luck

i the only one with this problem?

    RE: Error Code: 0x643

You have to uninstall all previous versions of .NET framework - use
add/remove programs in Conrol Panel. Then re-install .NET framework 2.0 and
after that install the new updates. I found this on
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100
When you get these errors when installing updates, check the custom install
(not express install) and it'll give info on how to solve it. Hope this
    helps : 0)

When you try to install the security update that security bulletin MS06-033
    describes
(917283) on a computer that is running the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, the
computer may stop responding or you may receive the following error code:
    0x643 - Applies to update KB922770 also.
NB: no need to uninstall 1.1, just V2.

After you remove 2.0, you will then have to reinstall
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86):

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB917283)

    RE: Error Code: 0x643

I keep receiving the same errors for almost a week now.
(Same applies to all the other currently available updates)
I've tried uninstalling the Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0... but it ends the
    uninstalling-process with an error, too.

    What can I do?

    RE: Error Code: 0x643

Try using the WI clean up utility to remove Framework 2 in your registry
Download Framework 2 and updates and then install Framework 2, reboot, now
    install the updates, rebooting inbetween.

But before you do anything, make sure you have a good system restore point
to go back to just in case.

    Try the following:
download and run the file at
    http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip
    for .NET 2.0

Log onto the Microsoft Update web site - custom - and reinstall .NET 2.0 -
after the reinstall select custom again and you should get 2 priority updates
    - install both.

This worked for me - hope it helps

Well, the clean-up-part was quite promising, since it worked o.k.... but now
    I can't get .NET 2.0 back on!

Perhaps I shouldn't have been so eager to always install all the latest
    hotfixes ;-(

I'm grateful for any further help/idea/comment.

Windows one care keeps telling me to update Microsoft.NET framework. It downloads from the site but when it tries to install the error code comes up.

Easiest way is to uninstall flash and then reinstall -

    For problems with flash -

    1. How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled...fm?id=tn_14157
Due to recent enhancements with the Flash Player installers, you are now only able to
uninstall by using the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller

    2. Then get Flash here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

Repeated attempts to install MS.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (KB110806)
and MS.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300) to Windows XP have failed
with Error Code 0x643. My installation history tells me that KB929300 was
successfully installed on 23 Dec 07 but I'm blowed if I can find it!

    Any suggestions?

See Resolution: Method 1 (preferable) or Method 2 in

Have a look at this thread. It may be relevant to your prºblem.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

    1. Write down what .NET Framework versions are already installed before you
    go uninstalling/removing any of them!

How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and
whether service packs have been applied
