I have the same problem too. I can't update the service pack in my windows.
Does anyone can help. This happened since a year ago, however I don't have
time to solve this problem.

I had the same problem. In my case it was caused by the ATI Catalyst Control
Centre used with video cards. Do this:
Run program from the website :
http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip

Uninstall the Catalyst control centre (Not the video driver) in 'Add/Remove
Programs'.
Then go back to Microsoft update, and all should be well. You will need to
reboot a few times during the process. You could try just uninstalling the
catalyst program and skip the clean-up tool. This may help to keep any .Net
links installed.
