Hi, Bard; The following was posted back in June by MS MVP MowGreen: ================ Try this : Rename the Catroot2 folder : Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type cmd and then click OK. At the Command Prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each line: net stop cryptsvc ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 catroot2old net start cryptsvc exit If you get an error message that Cryptographic Services is not running then go to Start, Run, type in services.msc Click OK. Scroll down the list of services until you get to Cryptographic Services. Double click it then click the Start button. In the Startup type drop down window set it to Automatic, click Apply, OK. Close the Services console. Now try the Windows Update site. ================ Please give those steps a try and see if that resolves the 0x8009200D problem. If not, please post back. |

If so, delete the subfolder that contains that file. Beyond that, it is likely this error is being caused by some problem in the cryptographic service area. This article contains quite a few possible fixes for that condition. A lot of it pertains to installing XP Service Packs or a specific KB update, so read through it and try the items that are do-able on your system (obviously skip those related to deleting CatRoot2). http://www.updatexp.com/cryptographic-service.html -- ....Sky Tom "Sky" King ============= |
