| KB973869
I have Xp x64 and KB973869 will not install. I tried safemod and tried to manually install the update. The updates exits with out error or stating it is completed. Windows updates keep offering the update even after it says it has installed it. I tried system restore but the system will not restore before the last patch tuesday. Any suggestions. |

| Re: KB973869
This seems to be a widespreaded issue running x64 versions, at least for Windows XP Professional 64bit and Windows Server 2003 64bit systems. *Please* get in contact with Microsoft Security Support (the call etc. should be free of charge) and open a case with them. Thanks! While opening the support case, you may have a look into the "KB973869.log" file residing in the "Windows" folder for any errors and check the file version of the "dhtlmed.ocx" (and/or "wdhtlmed.ocx") on your system. |

I run the Windows Update / review History and it tells me it has been sucessfully installed 7 times! But it still keeps asking me to update. |

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems. State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2) in your first post. |

That's considered to be fixed now. According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894199/en-us it has been an error in the WU/AU/WSUS detection logic causing the reoffering. Is that still the case? It should have been fixed in the meantime (WU/AU/WSUS detection logic error). |

| Re: KB973869
Follow-up: Re-offer reports confirmed for KB973869 <QP> We have investigated reports that the KB973869 (MS09-037) update is re-offered through Automatic Updates and Windows Update on some x64 systems, after it has already been installed. We have identified some limited scenarios where this is occurring with Windows Server 2003 x64, Windows XP x64, and Windows Server 2003 for Itanium-based systems. No systems are left unsecure due to this behavior. A revision to the update detection logic will be published shortly to prevent this update from being re-offered after it has been installed, and to ensure clients accurately describe the updates' installed status. If you have installed this update, you do not need to re-install the revision. We apologize for this inconvenience, |

No, it's not fixed for us until today (WSUS 3.0 SP2, reoffer to Win 2003 Standard SP2 x64). |
