| KB969376 disables "safe lists only"
I noticed after installing KB969376 that my spam filter no longer worked. All junk mail was put in my inbox. I uninstalled the update and everything works fine again. |

So what!? Is this a gentle way to tell me something? I searched for KB969376 and the only place where I found a hit was here. So that's where I posted a message to notify other people that they may have trouble when they install this update. The culprit is not Outlook but Windows Update. KB969376 installed properly. If it didn't, we might be able to help you with that. However, since installing the Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter update caused your "spam filter" (whatever that may be) not to work, it's an Outlook problem. As such, you should post about it in an OL-specific newsgroup, Willem. I'll lead the way by crossposting this reply to OL General and OL Third-party Utilities newsgroups. If you're using a third-party anti-spam application, you may want to disable/uninstall it & rely on OL's native Junk Mail filtering. If not, decline any further Junk E-mail Filter updates and rely on your anti-spam app. -- ~PA Bear Willem wrote: > So what!? > Is this a gentle way to tell me something? > > I searched for KB969376 and the only place where I found a hit was here. > So > that's where I posted a message to notify other people that they may have > trouble when they install this update. > > The culprit is not Outlook but Windows Update. > > "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: >> Outlook-specific newsgroups include: >> >> microsoft.public.outlook.general >> microsoft.public.outlook.bcm >> microsoft.public.outlook.calendaring >> microsoft.public.outlook.configuration >> microsoft.public.outlook.contacts >> microsoft.public.outlook.fax >> microsoft.public.outlook.installation >> microsoft.public.outlook.interop >> microsoft.public.outlook.printing >> microsoft.public.outlook.program_addins >> microsoft.public.outlook.program_forms >> microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba >> microsoft.public.outlook.teamfolders >> microsoft.public.outlook.thirdpartyutil >> -- >> ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) >> MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 >> >> Willem wrote: >>> I noticed after installing KB969376 that my spam filter no longer >>> worked. >>> All junk mail was put in my inbox. >>> I uninstalled the update and everything works fine again. |
