| Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5
commonly understood language what this update is about and so on... in the past I elected to ignore the SP1 update because of compatibility issues with the Acer computer I am using. As well the information in Microsoft is very limited in terms of the updates so - Anyone help me? |

We've asked MS for clarification on KB951847 but there's been no public response to-date. |

Thanks- I'll look that over. I don't have SP1 and I understand the update to NET Framework 2 Service Packs 1 and 2 to be appropriate and somewhat critical. I suppose I'm just curious as to what the update does. Really- I'm curious Hey- good to know even you guys are slow getting that kind of technical information- thing is I'm not about to drop something in to my computer unless I know what it is. |

| Re: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5
Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when posting to this newsgroup. 1. Write down the .NET Framework versions which are already installed: How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and whether service packs have been applied http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785 2. Now see Resolutions Method #2 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100. After running the appropriate/needed tool, (re)install all .NET Framework versions manually using the download links on the page. |

I am having the same problem. I have tried several times and a message appears that it was not installed succesfully. Please let me know if you hear of anything. I am having the same problem. I have tried to install both several times and the same error message appears. When I went to troubleshooting, that error code didn't exist. Do you use Windows Live One Care? I recently purchased it in December, and it has been since January 1st that I have been trying to install that update. A friend informed me that could be the reason. Please let me know if you know or find out anything. Thanks. |

You have two problems - I'll deal with Silverlight first, you'll have to fix the installation and then update. How to manually clean up a broken Silverlight installation http://blogs.msdn.com/rpomeroy/archi...tallation.aspx |

| Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 & .NET Framework Family Update KB9518
Hi, I have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 & .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix KB928366; .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 beta; .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 beta & ..NET Framework 3.5 beta installed on my pc. Windows Update keeeps informing me to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 & Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update KB951847 x86? If I attempt to update with these two updates they both fail. As .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is a cumulative update for previous .NET Frameworks [2.0; 3.0; & 3.5] should I uninstall the individual Frameworks and install the Cumulative Update or simply ignore the Update? |

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when posting to this newsgroup. 1. Before doing anything else, write down the .NET Framework versions which are already installed: How to determine which versions of the .NET Framework are installed and whether service packs have been applied http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785 2. Now see Resolution Method 2 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100 (ignore the title). Now run Windows Update manually. |

| RE: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework
On XP Home, I'm also having the same problem for some time now. I too have OneCare whose icon is green then becomes yellow (missing update). So I click on Install Update for MS NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and NET Framework 3.5 Family Update. Although it does not give an error code, an Installation Summary of Failed Update is provided. Initially I thought that, since I already had NEt Framework 3.5 SP1 without the NET Framework 3.5 Family, I uninistalled it and tried to install both from Windows update. The result was the same. It simply reinstalled the first 3.5 SP1 but not 3.5 Family the the OneCare icon turns green, but then becomes yellow again and I go through the same cycle with the same result. |

I was having the same error when installing Turbo Tax or the 3.5 update from the Microsoft site. Running the .Net CLeanup tool mention in Method 2 of article 923100 worked and I was able to install .Net 3.5 and SP1. |

Maybe everything was OK from the get-go?... Aaron Stebner's WebLog: TurboTax 2009 can fail to install because it thinks the .NET Framework is not installed, even when it is http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...6/9953883.aspx |
