Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1) when posting to this newsgroup. Do any other updates install? Start a free Windows Update support incident request: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527 For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB960715). Support for Windows Update: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through your usual support contacts. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.net Don wrote: > My error log looks like this (over and over and over) > > 0.890: > ================================================================================ > 0.890: 2009/02/12 13:55:58.782 (local) > 0.890: c:\880ce981f448297ead\update\update.exe (version 6.3.13.0) > 0.890: Hotfix started with following command line: > 0.890: In Function GetReleaseSet, line 1240, RegQueryValueEx failed with > error 0x2 > 1.187: In Function TestVolatileFlag, line 11825, RegOpenKeyEx failed with > error 0x2 > 1.187: In Function TestVolatileFlag, line 11857, RegOpenKeyEx failed with > error 0x2 > 1.187: DoInstallation: CleanPFR failed: 0x2 > 1.187: In Function GetReleaseSet, line 1240, RegQueryValueEx failed with > error 0x2 > 1.187: SetProductTypes: InfProductBuildType=BuildType.IP > 1.187: SetAltOsLoaderPath: No section uses DirId 65701; done. > 1.218: DoInstallation: FetchSourceURL for > c:\880ce981f448297ead\update\update_SP3GDR.inf failed > 1.218: LoadFileQueues: UpdSpGetSourceFileLocation for halmacpi.dll failed: > 0xe0000102 > 1.218: LoadFileQueues: QueueMigrationStageFiles failed: 0x00000003 > 1.218: InventoryThread: LoadFileQueues failed with error: 0x3 > 1.218: Inventory complete: ReturnStatus=3, 0 ticks > 5.546: CreateUninstall = 1,Directory = C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB960715$ > 5.546: Num Ticks for invent : 4328 > 5.593: The system cannot find the path specified. > 11.796: Message displayed to the user: The system cannot find the path > specified. > 11.796: User Input: OK > 11.796: KB960715 installation did not complete. > 12.421: Message displayed to the user: KB960715 installation did not > complete. > 12.421: User Input: OK > 12.421: Update.exe extended error code = 0x3 > 12.421: Update.exe return code was masked to 0x643 for MSI custom action > compliance. > > > Anyone have any input as to where I start? > > Thanks in advance - Don |
