For the failure of KB960082, could you provide the following log files?

    %windir%\sql2000-KB960082-v8.00.2055-[]-[lang].log

For the SQL SP3 you mentioned, do you mean update for sql server 2005
(KB955706)? If yes, could you provide the following log files? And what's
    your OS?
    1. %Program Files%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
    Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix\Summary.txt
    2. %Program Files%\\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
    Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix\SQL9_Hotfix_KB955706_sqlrun_sql.msp.log

Looks like the SP3 is for 2000, so please just provide me the log for
KB960082. Sorry for the inconvience, but we really need the logs to
    investigate the failure..

For this error code, this may because the SQL Server services is disabled.
Click start, typing “services.msc” in the run line. Check which service is
    disabled.

Not sure of your configuration, etc., but I had the same issue and the way I
resolved it was to go into services and change the MSSQL$SBSMONITORING from
disabled to manual and this allowed the update to be installed. Then again,
it might have just been a fluke, but that's all I did and the update
    installed after the change.

RE: Error Code: 0x2B33 KB960082 Failed

I had the same issue (while running on SBS 2003) and I solved it using a
combination of 2 things (not sure if either one independetly would have
    worked).

Under Services, enable (if necessary) and start the services
    "MSSQL$SBSMONITORING" and "SQLAgent$SBSMONITORING"

Also, download and install the Windows 2003 server fix KB925336 -
personally, I think this alone might have done it without having to start the
    services I mentioned above.

RE: Error Code: 0x2B33 KB960082 Failed

I know this topic has been discussed some time ago, but came across another
server presenting this issue. Hope this helpes for those who would be looking
    for a solution.

In this case enabling and starting the 2 mentioned services worked. To my
best knowledge hotfix KB925336 has not been installed.

Under Services, change "MSSQL$SBSMONITORING" to manual. You don't need to start the service. (I didn't)

This is the only step I needed to make it work. I got the answer from this thread and really appreciate it.
