| Error 0X80244019 in Windows Update
This one is a little more weird than the posts I have read. If I try to go to the Microsoft Update Screen I get a message: The requested URL /windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5 was not found on this server. If I try it in IE6 I get: Error Not Found The requested URL /windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx was not found on this server. My automatic Windows Update Fails everytime it tries to ru. I did a validation test on one of Microsofts Web site and was returned The following messages: Active Scripting allowed - passed Display Images enabled - passed Computer time & date correct - passed Cookies enabled - passed ActiveX enabled - passed Windows Validation ActiveX loaded - failed Office Validation ActiveX loaded - passed Validation Self-Help ActiveX loaded - failed I don't know what all this means but I suspect it has something to do with my not being able to even get to the Microsoft Update Scree. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Jerry -- Jerry |

Addition: This gets better. Both firefox and IE6 return an error message (below) when I try to download IE8. I was going to try that but can't download it. When I click on Download it goes to another screen that says "thanks for downloading....) I'm beginning to think my problems are worse that I thought!! Sorry. This is all fixed. I was on the phone with a Microsoft Tech who worked with me for about 1-1/2 hours and then he handed me off to a higher level Tech. We installed and ran Combofix and it found somee spyware, some from Google and I don't know who else. Anyhow the problem is fixed and the PC is working fine now. Thanks for the help. Sergio, go to this web site and download Combofix and run it. That was the final step the Microsoft Tech and I did to resolve my problem.
