Error downloading 3 important updates in Windows Vista

Hi All,

I'm trying to download 3 updates marked as Important in Windows Vista
using Windows Update.

All 3 error, when tried either as a group or individually. I get the
following error messages:

- "Code 8E5E03FB Windows Update encountered an unknown error"
- "Code 8E5E03FA Windows Update encountered an unknown error"

The 3 updates are:

- Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista
(KB958215)
- Security Update for Windows Vista (KB956802)
- Update for Windows Vista (KB957388)

I have tried rebooting multiple times to no avail.

Interestingly enough, since I started getting an error on these 3
outstanding updates, at least 1 other update (Definition Update for
Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.49.1455.0)) has successfully
downloaded and installed.

Can anyone give me any advice on how I go about fixing the problem I'm
experiencing?

Many thanks in advance,

pt

Re: Error downloading 3 important updates in Windows Vista

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB956802).

If your problem relates to a Cumulative Security Update for IE (e.g.,
KB958215), call the above number and ask to be transferred to the "Consumer
IE queue" (which is 47830).

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do this once I'm home and on the machine
in question.

Many thanks,
