I've been trying to use the Update site since Monday. Initially it
asked me to update to the latest version, which I did, but since then
all I get is the red dot with white x icon and the message:
"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you
are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve
the problem."
With the error code 0x80072EFF.
After hunting through the FAQs, articles, and posts on the group I
still can't get it working. I have tried the following:
*Re-installed Microsoft scripting 5.6
*Re-installed the agent from the download site
*Re-registered the XML components (msxml3.dll, msxml2.dll, and
msxml.dll. In that order.) and installed MSXML 3.0 SP5
*Wiped out CatRoot2, flused all Cookies, Files, and Objects, reset
defaults and then disabled 3rd party extensions and rebooted. (This
did seem to download the Microsoft Update control again).
*Re-registered the Windows Update components (Jscript.dll, wuapi.dll,
and wuaueng.dll, In that order.)
None of the above has worked.
