| Error 0x00a598f0
I believe my last windows update failed and I am having a hard time repairing my computer. When I start up I get an error: The instruction at "0x00a598f0" reference memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". I tried to follow the directions in this post: http://www.pchell.com/support/svchosterror.shtml. But when I run the REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL (either through the command prompt or through the Windows/Run) I get the error: DllRegisterServer in WUAPI.DLL failed. Return code was: 0x80070005 I have purchased and installed RegCure but I can't seem to fix the problem on startup. I also tried to "Remove the Corrupted Windows Updates" from my computer but it doesn't seem to have helped. I might point out that I only receive this error when booting up after shut down - not when I restart. If anyone has any advice I am all ears... Miki |

I am running Microsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3. This is the latest update that I ran: Windows Update Agent 7.2.6001.788 on Sunday, November 30, 2008. I ran a disc cleanup, ad-aware, defrag and virus scan but I still get the error on start up. I have attached the hijackthis log file. Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated! |

| Re: Error 0x00a598f0
I was able to resolve this problem by uninstalling the following windows updates: Security Update for Windows XP KB957097 Security Update for Windows XP KB955069 Security Update for Windows XP KB954459 I then re-installed them using the Windows Update service. I think that my firewall had blocked on of the components during the initial install. Thanks for your responses, I appreciated the help! |
