    updates not configured correctly

I keep getting prompted that there are updates to install on my Vista Home
    Premium
Here is the sequence after installing the updates:

First: please do not turn off or unplug your machine. Installing updates 1
    of 5 ..
Second: Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3 0% complete. Do not turn off your
    computer
Third after restarting the computer: Updates were not configured correctly:
reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer.

Then it goes back to asking me to installe the updates again and again...

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., Vista SP1) when posting to
    this newsgroup, please.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message [i.e.,
"configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete"], and the computer restarts
when you try to install an update in Windows Vista:

    Windows version is SP1

You still have not defined your OS. Is XP SP1 or Vista SP1? It might even
    be W2K SP1 for all I know.

Did you install Vista SP1 manually or via Windows Update, Dino?

Have you looked at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358 yet? Tip: Skip
everything else in the KB article and scroll down to the MORE INFORMATION
    section.

You probably had not read my initial posted message, I started by stating "I
keep getting prompted that there are updates to install on my Vista Home

    Re: updates not configured correctly

Via windows update. All had been working fine up untill about a week ago.
On one hand I have the shield on the power off icon (Start) and on the other
the Automatic Updates trying to download the same updates I believe are
already waiting to be configured. Thank you for the help.
