Security Update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1 (KB947738)

I am trying to install this security update. I've tried through Microsoft
Update and from the Download Center. It downloads fine in both cases.
However, when it tries to install, there appears to be an issue with the
syntax for the msiexec command, as it brings up the msiexec command
reference. Then, the install fails with Error Code: 0x667. Looking at the
windowsupdate.log file, I get the following information:

** START ** Agent: Installing updates [CallerId = MicrosoftUpdate]

It appears there is a bug in the update installer. Anybody encounter the
same thing? Are there any workarounds? Thanks for any help.

No Office 2003 installed. Only Office XP.
    All other updates work.
All have been applied except this one!

    Looking for some help too!

I had a very similar problem with this hotfix too. It turns out that the installer was looking for an MSP from Visual Studio 2005 SP1. Once I re-installed SP1, the installation for KB947738 ran with no problems.

I had the same problem. Try this:
    Go to %SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
Find there a file of avg. 14 mb size.
It is a simple archive. Unpack it and launch VS80sp1-KB947738-X86-INTL.msp.
It was installed with no problems for me.
