    Can't install Service Pack 3

I downloaded Service Pack 3, clicked to install it, the install ran and at
the end it said " Expected version of the product was not found on your
    system". Any advice?

Assuming you're referring to WinXP SP3 and attempted to install it manually:

Are you running WinXP SP1 or WinXP SP2 currently?

You are not offered the option to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 when you
use the Windows Update Web site or Automatic Updates:

    Can't install Service Pack 3

Service Pack 3 installation fails when trying to back up registry. I keep
getting the message: Could not backup registry key
    HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\current version\uninstall\KB87339 Access

    Can anyone help?
