AUTOMATIC UPDATE STILL NOT WORK EVEN AFTER CMD PROMPT

TRIED COMMAND PROMPT LIKE STATED STILL WON'T WORK.
I get "Error 1058: The service cannot
    > started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices
    > associated with it." Both the BIT and Event Log are set to Automatic and
    > running properly.

    ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS

RE: AUTOMATIC UPDATE STILL NOT WORK EVEN AFTER CMD PROMPT

Hi there Deka, take a deep breath and do the following:-

    1. Start, Run, type : services.msc
What is the statis of the automatic update service?

    2. Double click the Automatic update services and tell me what you see under
path to executable (on the general tab):

It should read: C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
    Does yours read the same?

Now have a look at the log on tab and the only thing that should be checked
is the top one - "Local System Account"

Just tell us what you are seeing but don't do anything as yet. Exit out of
    services.

Please advise what it is that you typed from the command prompt and what you
    have tried.
It is assumed that you are using Windows XP for the above instructions.

I had the same problem. None of thw solutions here worked. Turned out to be
a Trojan that disabled Automatic Update and Task Manager. I could not get
rid of it until I ran SuperAntiSpyware (it's free).

Look in your Windows/system32 folder. If you see this file, that's a good
clue you have the same trojan.
    CBXNDTML.DLL

It cannot be deleted. Anyway, this software got it after all my other
    antivirus utilities failed.

That "solution" is garbage, go pitch your junk somewhere else. It just so
happens to be that I am in the process of removing the very same trash you
    are peddling Bill.

    Bill,

Thank you so much for the solution. I have been working quite literally for three full days trying to resolve that issue...became quite good friends with several Indians at tech support during the process, but they could not figure it out. Damn!!I am so releived that the problem is solved.

    Thanks again!!

    Bill-

I have the same problem as DEKA D but the superanitspyware can not elimante
the trojan. I have two specific dll files I can not eliminate with McAfee,
    Dr. Spyware, Symantec or Superantispyware.

    mlJBSIBt.dll

is one of them. Any ideas?
