problems trying to install XP service pack 3 KB936929

Morning
I get an error repsonse can't install access is denied and have to undo
changes that have been made. This happens at the point when the download is
trying to update the registry keys. I have automatic updates turned on and
now when I go the the wedsite to check for other updates I get the response
saying unable to do so. The icon is still in the tray saying this update svc
pack 3 needs to be installed.

I ended up contacting the microsoft support address and they were able to
help. They sent a file that reset the registy keys. thanks for your help
