Style problem in word 2007

Hi,

I created several templates in word 2003 that had their own simple styles (like change font size plus bold). When I try to use them in word 2007, if i select part of a sentence and attempt to apply the style to just that part, it applies the style to the entire sentence/paragraph and not just the highlighted text.

I also tried to create a style in word 2007 to see if this would fix the problem but it did the same thing. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You need to check if the style that you created is a paragraph style or a character style.

If it is a paragraph style then when you apply the style it will apply to entire paragraph. If the style is a character style, then it will apply only to the selected words in the sentence.

To check if the style is a paragraph of character style do the following:

• Select the Style
• On the Menu toolbar click on Format and then click Styles and Formatting
• Click on [b]Modify Style[b]
• The [b]Modify Style[b] dialog box is displayed.
• Check the [b]Style based on[b] drop-down list.
• If the option selected is 'Paragraph' then it is a Paragraph style, if the selected option is 'Character', then it is a Character style.
