    How to restrict users to access a partition

    hi......

    can help me out with this problem.........

    i am running winxp sp2.........my 80gb has 3 partitions........i want to restrict any users, besides admins, to access a particular partition say the E drive........how do i do this................

    plz help.....in detail................

    NOTE : YOU MUST BE HAVING NTFS FILE SYSTEM ON THAT DRIVE.
    simple:

    goto RUN and type: control folders
    [press enter]

    then in 'folder options' > VIEW >
    under the list you will see : USE SIMPLE FILE SHARING ... (UNCHECK IT)

    and APPLY . OK.

    then right click the drive you will now see a new TAB called : "security"

    now delete all users that have permission to that drive.. and add only your account.... and say to "allow all"

    NOW ONLY YOU CAN ACCESS THAT DRIVE... NOT ANYONE ELSE..........

    Yeah, that is called security permissions or simply NTFS permissions in XP because it is only applicabe/available if the drive is NTFS partitioned. The feature is not available on FAT partition type.
