    blush Best Bittorrent client

    I am currently using Shareaza....

I hear bittornado is supposedly the best client available...
(like it can d/l 20GB torrents in 2 seconds, make a hot cuppa tea and even provide TLC....yeeeeks, bad joke again  )

    Anyway, my qstns are
    1) What's the best bittorrent client
    2) Does your choice of client make any difference to the download speeds...
    3) Do i get any (if yes, what) benefits by shifting to say bitornado frm Shareaza?

Thanks to all those who repsond...

and an icecream too (ok...ok.. was fibbing )

Well there are quite a few clients out there. The most downloaded BT client is Azureus (I dont like this one coz you require Java and Azureus clashes with the firewall i have). I prefer these two clients - G3 Torrent(nearly all Azureus features in this and no Java required) and BitTornado. I use G3 when I have to queue up multiple torrents otherwise for single downloads BitTornado is cool. No...client choice doesnt make a difference to speeds. What do you use Shareaza for - Just downloading torrents or do u connect to other networks? Never liked Shareaza anyways...try edonkey 2000 v1 with the BT Plugin if you want to leech from both networks.

Yes G3 is free..available thru sourceforge. Havent come across any paid BT client yet. And G3 is way much better than TorrentStorm. Do check it out.

BTW - TorrentStorm is just a frontend to the original BT client.

i used azureus for a long time...
    now use only bitcomet since lasr 1 month...clean n smalll(coded in c++)
u can decide the min amount of RAM 2 be kept free while the client is running, anyways its pretty light on system, although not all options of azureus..

    Well, my 2 cents here
Tried the default bit conjurer torrent client, bittornado, azureus, mainline 3,bitcomet and XBT torrent client and was completely completely blown away by the XBT client. Very very lite on resources unlike azureus and very very simple and easy to use, i recommend everyone to try it out and am sure u wont be disappointed,i personally download around 1.5 GB of data thru it everyday
Here is da link for XBTTorrent download.

Ok...Heres one last try to convince you ppl that G3 Torrent is the one of the best Clients out there.

    Features
Queuing and downloading of multiple torrents. (Starting, stopping, pausing, queue up, queue down etc)
Real-time list of peer addresses and their statistics. Reverse DNS toggle-able.
Advanced Progress bar graphically illustrates which pieces of the file have been downloaded.
A graph to display upload and download rates over time. Each torrent being downloaded has it's own graph record.
Optional Web Interface for remote adminstration.
Friends Priority System. Friends IP address can be set to get upload preference if they are downloading the same file.
Temporary upload priority can be given to peers by right clicking them in the list.
Peers can be banned by right clicking them in the list.
With torrents that contain multiple files:
The user can select the order they will download in.
This is usefull in cases where you only really want 1 file in the torrent.
Or need certain files to arrive before others.
The client will not reject peers who want to upload but do not have pieces from the file that has the immediate download priority.
Or they can be downloaded in a random order. (Rarest pieces first algorithm not withstanding)
In most cases this is the best strategy. As it is benefits the overall health of the torrent by keeping a wide range of pieces available, and reduces reliance on seeders.
    "Fast Resume" capability.
When restarting or resuming, the client will automatically reconnect to all of those peers you were connected when you either exited the client or paused a torrent.
Detailed message view for statistics and error reporting.
System tray icon graphically displays upload download statistics.
Peer list view can identify and display what client the peer is using. (Azureus, Shadow, and other clients that identify themselves uniquely)
Can be set to use user customizable folders for storing torrent and incoming files.
User customizable automatic stopping criteria. Torrents can be set to stop:
Always automatically stop when download completes
Only when there other files in queue
Only After seeding for N period of time
Only After uploading N% or a ratio of what you have downloaded
    Never automatically stop
User customizable upload choker (the choker determines which peer you upload to):
User customizable color settings to change look and feel.
    User customizable global upload rate.
User customizable upload behavior (upload rate / number of uploads)
User customizable listening ports, ip bindings
    Multi-Tracker support
    Utilizes the Bittorrent 3.4.1a code-base
    Written in Python. Utilizes wxWidgets.

You can choose parts of the torrent you want to download. Do check the screenshots.

This is a cut and paste job from G3's official site.

well..still in my opinion...torrent is very slow...
no matter which client you use..

and btw, G3 is very good but the download speeds are not that great.
compared to that BitComet is faster...well, not my opinion...read that somewhere..
