microsoft office 2003 - excel and word takes 5 minutes to open

Ive got an issue with mircosoft office 2003 that I'm having a difficlult time figuring it out and was wondering if anyone else has the same issue or a fix.

Recently, after configuring microsoft outlook 2003, opening word or excel files over the network can take up to 5 minutes to open. I can open the same document either locally or using open office and it will open in seconds.

Also I've found that machines with outlook configured have the same issue and machines without outlook configured have no issue at all.

I am listing some reasons that can help you to figure out why your Office is slow. First just check that there are not RSS feed configured on Outlook. If there is any then disable it. Second remove all the add-ins you have installed in Office. If possible it is recommended that you must try to reduce the size of .pst file. This file stores your emails. Export all those emails which are not require. Try to run Office in safe mode once and see you can get any difference in speed.
