A few questions before migrating to Microsoft Edge 2010 SP2

I am working on Microsoft Edge 2007 sp3 and I am planning to migrate to Microsoft Edge 2010 sp2. I have a few questions about migrating to Microsoft Edge 2010 sp2. All nailboxes are on 2010. We have 2 HT/CAS 2010. We even have our old setup of 2 cas/ht 2007 and two stand alone mbx’s and 1 edge 2007 all on sp3. My queries are as follows:
Do the rules created in 2007 follow in the subscription? I think they are been sorted in the AD now.
We have an internal receive connector locked for internal applications and copier.
Do I Have to re-create it or even this will be moved by the subscription.
    Thanks.

If you want to say that Edge Subscription will move the receive connector then sorry to tell you it won’t move the receiver connector, you’ll need to recreate the receiver connector on Exchange 2010 and even the rules written in Edge 2007 won’t work on Edge 2010 so you’ll have to rewrite them.

If you want to deploy the Edge Transport server and want to subscribe it to an Active Directory site then follow these steps:
    1. Install the Edge Transport server role.
    2. You have to verify that the Hub Transport servers and Edge transport servers can locate one another by using Domain Name System (DNS) name resolution.
    3. Now configure the objects and settings to be replicated by the Edge Transport server.
    4. On the Edge Transport server create and export an Edge subscription file.
    5. Copy the Edge Subscription file to a Hub Transport server or a file share that’s accessible from the Active Directory site that has your Hub Transport servers.
    6. Now Import the Edge subscription file to your Active Directory site to which you want to subscribe your Edge Transport server.

There is one very important thing which I want you to note down before you go ahead with the installation of Edge 2010. If you deploy Exchange 2010 as your new organization then you later can’t install Exchange 2007 in Exchange 2010 Environment. If you require Exchange 2007 functionality in your organization in the future you must maintain at least one Exchange 2007 Server. The most important point in Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 is that the Mailbox server needs a Hub Transport server with the matching Exchange version in the same active directory suite. It is due the change in the Exchange Server Object (XSO) model in Exchange 2010. Exchange 2010 Hub transport servers can’t pick up messages from Exchange 2007 Mailbox.
