"sync only checked songs and videos" option not working with iTunes

Yesterday, I marked some of the songs and then selected the option as "sync only checked songs and videos" but that is not seem to sync. I tried to remove them as well but after trying this also, I can see that all the songs are there only. This is very weird, Can you tell methat what ca n be the reason for this problem. Please tell me if yu are having any idea regarding this.

I would like to tell you that there is one trick that can be used and with this you get iTunes to re-evaluate what needs to be removed as of the iPod. All you have to do is change the "sync checked songs/videos" option back-and-forth.

If the songs are not getting removed then there might be problem with the memory card that you are using. Just check for this. You can also remove the card and then format that by connecting that directly with the computer as external mass storage. But make this as an last option if none of the other options helps you.
