In my computer I have installed Audacity and I have Gentoo Linux operating system. in my computer Audacity works fine but when enable software playthrough option and then try to record at that time it does not work. Pease let me know what I should do to solve issue.

I have read your issue and I want to tell you that in normally there is no need to enable software playthrough if you are using PulseAudio. If you want to allocate playback streams and know which stream it records then you have to use Pulse Volume Control.

In my system I was also having similar issue with software playthrough of audacity and then I have come to know that I need to install Pulse Volume Control and the Pulse Device Chooser because I was using PulseAudio. After installing Pulse Volume Control and the Pulse Device Chooser problem get solved. if you are using PulseAudio then you should try this solution.
If you want to install PulseAudio Volume Control then you have to download it from here DOWNLOAD. Now after that install it in your system. I am not sure but this solution will help you to fix this problem.

I have tried the solution which you have given. After installing Pulse Volume Control and the Pulse Device Chooser in my system also I was having same problem. now after I have also tried to solve this problem by reinstalling Audacity but that idea does not work for me.
Is there any other way to solve this then let me know?

You should check audacity by selecting ALSA as default device instead of PulseAudio and after that check whether you face same problem or not? may be after trying this solution your problem will get solved. if you need any more help then let me know.

Same thing happen with me also. Reinstalling audacity does not help me to fix this. After that one my friend suggests me not set PulseAudio device in audacity and then I have selected ALSA as default device and my problem get solved. You can try this trick.
