How to format numbered list in OpenOffice?

I have created a list in OpenOffice. I have started typing at 1) and hit enter. It simply gets indent and creates the new line which is starting with 2). I don’t want anything like automatically insert as I am entering something into numbered list and I wanted to edit the same by myself. Can you tell me how can I turn off the same?

In order to terminate the automatic list you should press the enter key twice.

1. Also if you wanted to switch off the automatic conversion. So you will need to type the number for every single entry.
2. Click on Tools and go for Autocorrect Options.
3. From the Options tab you have to uncheck Apply numbering.

Hey thanks a lot for replying with the solutions but I did not found Apply numbering. i have looked into the Options tab from the Tools dropdown and I did not found anything

Well Apply number option is available in Autocorrect options rather than that of Options of Tools.
