Edit buttons not working properly in Excel

Hi friends recently I have faced an issue in excel, that When I try to edit my excel document, the buttons on the task bar are shaded and I cannot cut, paste, etc. Why this is happening there in Excel? I don’t know what to do to overcome this situation. So if you guys have any of the information or any of the suggestion to overcome this then please do the reply. Grateful for any suggestions as to what may cause this problem or how to solve it

According to my information may be the workbook is protected that you are trying to edit in excel, because of the condition that I have seen It sounds like the worksheet or workbook is protected. Take a look at the protection features in the Tools Menu. May be this will help you out to make the verification of these issue.

I figured it out. I had to activate the software. It is relatively new and I hadn't done the phone activation yet. Therefore, it wouldn't allow me to do anything.
