    Arrow Common file name extensions with explanation.

    Hello friends,
    My dad purchased new computer for me before ten days; now I am very happy with my computer. But when I save the file my computer ask me the extension before saving and gives some suggestions. What are the common Files extinctions please provide some information I am new and having less knowledge about computer files. Please help me.

    The file that contains waveform data is called as audio file. This file can be played using an audio playback application.

    Video file extensions:- The large range of video formats are included in video files.
    .3GP File Extension is used for 3GPP Multimedia Files, .MP4 File Extension is used for MPEG-4 Video File, .ASF File Extension is used for Advanced Systems Format Files, .AVI File Extension is used for Audio Video Interleave File, .FLV File Extension is used for Flash Video Files.

    Files related to web servers and websites are included in Web files. The common web files extensions with explanation.
    .asp is the Active Server Page.
    .cer is the Internet Security Certificate.
    .htm is the Hypertext Markup Language File.
    .html is the Hypertext Markup Language File.
    .jsp is the Java Server Page file.
    .php is the Hypertext Preprocessor File.

    Text File Types
    The text file stores textual data; .doc this extension is used for Microsoft Word Document. .log this extension is used for Log File. .rtf extension is use for Rich Text Format File .txt extension is used for Plain Text File.

    .cab Windows Cabinet File.
    .cpl Windows Control Panel Item.
    .dll Dynamic Link Library.
    .dmp Windows Memory Dump.
    .drv Device Driver.
    .lnk File Shortcut.
    .sys Windows System File.

    The Executable files contain code. When we open this file the code runs. Applications, macros, scripts files are the examples of executable file. It is recommended to do not open such types of unknown files received as e-mail attachment. These are some common types of files, .bat is for DOS Batch File, .cgi is for Common Gateway Interface Script, .exe is for Windows Executable File, .gadget is for Windows Gadget, .jar is for Java Archive File, .pif is for Program Information File, .vb is for VBScript File, .wsf is for Windows Script File.
