Is MPEG 2 playback component newer or older version of QuickTime?

I wanted to know whether QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component for the Mac OS X on the official site is an updated version or it is the older version of 6.4? I am looking to upgrade the same but I don’t wanted to waste $20 in order to purchase this particular version of the software. Any help will be highly appreciated.

In case you have purchased the same through the US Apple Store then visiting the official site and you have to redownload the QT 6 MPEG-2 Playback - Mac OS X. also you have to check if you are having the original purchase is updated to the latest version then your account would updated automatically. In case you are not able to make the thing working for you than you should contact the technical support team to get the further help on the above mentioned issue.

Well the latest version of the QT v7.6 or later version of the QuickTime than you will need to perform the manual installation on the system of yours.
