    vlc file associations problem.

    Hi,

I have this question to ask you guys. After installing VLC player, it has associated all files with itself. The problem is that the files which were associated with windows media player are not got associated with VLC player & I don't want this to happen. So is there any work around to solve this mess?

    Thanks in advance.

Well you can set the rule in windows media player if you just have a look in the preferences. You can set the file association again.

If you want to try any other solution then I must say try to install VLC once again & make selection at the installation. I hope this helps you.

If you're nervous about it, don't relate VLC with anything. You can always right click and choose Open with -> VLC. Personally I assign all file types it ask me as default No problem for me you can always right click or change the associativity in file properties window. You can create a different program, right click and pick if you like.

Hey I have different problem regarding the VLC media players file associativity. My problem is that I have 3 user accounts 7 I want to keep different file associativity for the user groups.
Say a, b & C are user groups. I want all files to open with VLC for A.
But only .3gp & .vob files for user b in VLC & not other.

For this what is the best way to configure this is it possible? I have tried it but no luck yet.

    Hi,

Download this smart installer for VLC

It will only install those extensions which are not associated with your system. Thus it will keep preferences and setting on your media files as it is.
