Realtek HD Audio Manager in Windows 7: Front jacks do not mute rear?

I assumed that when I plug a headset into the front jacks this would automatically mute the speakers (rear jacks) but this does not seem to be the case.
Is there a setting somewhere that controls this, and if so where do I find it?
    The Audio Manager is onboard.

First of all go to or click on Realtek HD Audio Manager and then follow the below steps:

    • Go to Audio On / Off
    • Then Connector Setting
    • After that Select Disable front panel jack detection

Once you tick on that option, your front jack should start working.

Re: Realtek HD Audio Manager in Windows 7: Front jacks do not mute rear?

I have a bit different issue in my system. I had configured different audio enhancement through Realtek Audio Manager. And when I am trying to play CS on my pc it is giving a very weird sound. I am not able to understand the audio commands. I had seen the audio settings of the game which is on default. Sound output is good at the time of watching movies and playing audio. But it is too bad when I am playing the game. What should I do. My headphone is working fine, I had checked in other systems. How can I reset the audio setting of CS back to default.

You said that you had enabled audio enhancement. You have to reset the same to default. Check in your system if you have some third party audio enhancer tool installed. A tool that enable 3D audio in your pc. You have to remove it or you have to turn it off to get the default output. Or else it will be keep on giving you the same kind of issue. Go in Control Panel > Uninstall Program (Add/Remove for XP) and remove all the audio driver and audio manager software. Then download the latest version from Realtek and install it in your system. This will be enough to fix the issue.
