Which one is better among Picasa and iPhoto?

I am having a mac operating system at my home. I like to view, edit, organize and share photos on facebook. I have heard a lot about picasa and iphoto but don’t have much knowledge about them. I am actually to computers. I would like to know what the features of picasa and iphoto are. Please someone can tell me the pros and cons of each. I want to have one, but I am little confused between which one should I go? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

iPhoto is one of the Apple's "killer" application. This application is updated on regular basis just like other apple applications. You can integrate it very nicely to other apple programs within iLife, iWork, OSX, iTunes. I would recommend you to go for iphoto.

let me tell you that you can easily resize a photo in picasa as compared to iphoto. Picasa organizes all the pictures in albums by date. The picasa program works with JPEG, GIF, BMP, PSD, and movie files. Picasa is compatible with most digital cameras available in the market. It detects the USB drivers and imports pictures into albums. Picasa 3.8 version is the new version available and it has come up with some fix too. I would suggest you to go with the picasa. As I personally feel that it quite better than the iphoto.

Picasa is Google’s highly effective photo organizing and editing software that is accessible for free. It has simple interface, it has easy picture editing, it is appealing and fast, it integrates with other products. In my view picasa is the best.

Well I would like to mention the cons of each here,
    Cons:
    Iphoto:
    • Iphoto only works on Macs
    • There are not enough editing tools
    • Doesn’t upload to enough third-party sites/programs
    • No much features for more advanced photo editors
    Picasa:
    • Sometimes picasa runs slowly when finding photos throughout the computer
    • Picasa program interface is more cluttered than iPhoto’s
    • No much features for more advanced photo editors
I hope my contribution is helpful.

I like Picasa because it is easy good features and also it has facial recognition features. It has enough tools to turn most of my photos into very good pictures. Picasa doesn’t have Photoshopbut as it is not designed to do advanced stuffs. It is for organizing your photos and enhancing them so they look good and print well. If you need to use photoshop on a photo, picasa will be happy to display it when you are done. I like picasa.

Re: Which one is better among Picasa and iPhoto?

For iphoto you need to pay an amount of 80 dollars where as picasa is free. So I would recommend you to go and have picasa. iPhoto is integrated throughout the entire Operating System. iPhoto works well with external editors. In Picasa the application defaults to whatever is set as the Default Viewer, so we need to change that for the whole os. iPhoto's slideshows are much powerful and stronger. In picasa, Templates and a wide range of export options are not available.

I like picasa than iphoto. It is little different. I like picasa because it does a phenomenal job of removing red-eye effect from the photos that I take from my digital camera
