recover my excel file in unrecognized format

Hiii !

Can any one out there suggest me some option so that i can open my excel file in unrecognized format safely?
Yesterday i work on it and today i tried so many times to open the file but failed. It is no more in recognized format. I am not getting the reason for this and want to know how do i access my excel file in unrecognized format. As the data is critical so cannot bear data loss tool.

Which Office version and OS are you using ??? Also, are you sure your MS OFFICE is working perfectly ?

If its Windows XP, Open windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Option, View Tab, UNCHECK Hide extensions for known file types and click OK.

Now, get back to your excel file, rename it to .xls (if office 2003) OR rename it to .xlsx (if office 2007). Thats it. Now open it. It should work.
