Install Office 2010 and 2003 and on windows 7

Hi mates, I am student studying B.com and currently appearing in my final exam of CA. I have to study a lot for this exam as only 2% of people pass this exam. I also have to refer previous year’s paper that was given to me by my college professors. Now here comes the problem, I have Windows 7 at my home and have latest windows office 2010 installed on it. But whenever I try to open the word file given to me by my professor, I am not able to open them. Please help?

Check if the files send to you by your professor are running properly and are not corrupted while copying them from one location to other .or while downloading then to your pc. This could be the reason for not opening the file on your office suite. As you are running the latest version of office, there won‘t be any problem associated with the pc. I suggest you to start with a fresh copy of the files by taking them from your friends or professor s again. Also check with your friends if they are able to read it or not .

Hey brother, please be kind enough to post your Configuration below so that we can suggest you more accurate answer‘s Most importantly mention the type of file you are trying to open with office. Also send the extension of the file you are opening. And what version of office 2010 are you opening this file. Eagerly waiting to answer your post .Hoping to see your post as early as possible.

Hi mate, I have posted my configuration above, and I am trying to open a office word 2003 file with a latest version of office 2010 which came pre –installed with my laptop when I took it 1 months ago. I have tried taking opening with a fresh copy of the file taken from my friends but it still does not work out. But , the same copy id been working in my friends pc who has the same os which hi used and office 2007 as his office suite .

The problem lies with your office 2010 suite, I think as you are a commerce student you won‘t have an idea about how office 2010 works. To your information; Office 2010 does not support office 2003 files. SO that was catch that you couldn’t see when you were trying to open the office files.You should now either install 2003 besides your office 2010. Or you should open that file with office 2007 and then save it in 2007 mode.

I don‘t not recommend to install office 2010 with office 2003 as they might get corrupted due to the fact that they use the same library extension. SO it might confuse you system with whom the library file exists with office 2010 or office 2007.If you still insist for install ling them together . Install them in separate directory as it might lessen the confusion that occurs when opening a word file. Hope that helps you out.

Hey, all the post that are made for office above are absolutely correct and working. You should opt for anyone of them. Or there is another one which quite safe and smart to use. I suggest you to download the office Compatibility pack that is made for the user who still use 2003 word format. This can be downloaded very easily. The simplest way is to update your system by going to start and then all programs and then windows update. That is it. Now when ever you try to open your file which is in 2003 format it would open that file in compatibility mode.
