Looking at the matter which you have mentioned over here I am suggesting following steps which you should try to fix the matter of yours.
    • You should move to C:\Program File\Microsoft Office\Office 12\excel.exe.
    • You have to right click on the exe file of the Excel sheet and the go for Properties and then click on the Compatibility. And you should see that you have checked the Compatibility Mode checkmark.
    • After doing the same Click on the Apply button and then go for Ok button.

I am suggesting a particular solution which you can use to fix the matter of yours.
    • You should click on the Office button and then go for Excel Options and then click on the Advanced.
    • You have to search for the General tab and simply uncheck the checkbox which is named as ‘ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange’
    • Now simply click on the Ok button and simply close the Exit.
    • Now you should try to open the Excel files by double clicking.

I am suspecting that problem which you have mentioned over here is happening due to corruption of the user profile. Well I am suggesting that you should create a new user profile and see whether you are open to Excel file by double clicking or not. If you are unable to do the same then I am sure that corruption of the user profile was the culprit. You should delete the corrupted user profile and use the newly created user profile on computer of yours.

Many times such problem is happening due to corruption of the Excel file itself. So I am suggesting that you should reinstall the Excel file on the computer. Well you should uninstall the Office and reboot the computer. After rebooting the same you should install the Office 2010 on the computer of yours. I am hoping that the solution which I have mentioned over here would be useful to get the requirement of yours.

Looking at the problem of yours I am doubting that this particular problem is occurring due to bug issue. So I am suggesting that you should file a bug report on this particular matter. You should contact the developer and tell them about the error message which you are getting while using this particular software. Also you should provide the information regarding the computer configuration. Well they will work around the problem and fix the bug and they will release the patch after fixing the bug.
