Security Audit Log

I was wondering if there was a way to retrieve the security logs files from the event viewer after you had cleared them?

Yes -- I viewed the logs files and did not chose "Yes" save to file before clearing..

Re: Security Audit Log

You can read windows application, security and system log files by using "Event Viewer". You just need to follow these small steps:
  • Click on the Start button
  • Go to Control Panel menu option and double click on it to start the Control Panel?s window.
  • Now click on Administrative Tools icon and double click on the Event Viewer icon

Re: Security Audit Log

Audit trails maintain a record of system activity both by system and
application processes and by user activity of systems and applications. In
conjunction with appropriate tools and procedures, audit trails can assist
in detecting security violations, performance problems, and flaws in
applications. This bulletin focuses on audit trails as a technical control
and discusses the benefits and objectives of audit trails, the types of
audit trails, and some common implementation issues.
