    How can I update each field within a document at once?

    I am working on a extended document. Each of my placeed in objects (figures as well as tables) is within text boxes by means of their captions. Throughout the editing practice a few objects that have been deleted otherwise moved so now they are totally out of order. How do I obtain them all toward update at same time? When I choose all (Ctrl+A) just the body gets chosen. It is at present ignoring every table, figures, headers, footers wherever I have a many fields. I don't mind having to go to header/footers by hand for the reason that at least it has to be done once. But through my captions, at present I have to choose every caption inside each text box separately to update them. I be grateful for all of your help.

    Do you accidentally have the pictures as well as their captions within text boxes? If that is the case then the caption numbering will be within the order of locations for the "anchors" for text boxes, not within order of positions of boxes themselves. Initially, you will have to go to Office button > Word Options > Display. Verify the box to confirm object anchor. After that, go to page through the problem and click on edge of superior text box. Now click lower text box. If anchor intended for this one is lying on a paragraph superior on page than initial one then drag it toward a paragraph under first one. After that go to Print Preview for updating the captions and they ought to straighten out.

    First of all, you will have to confirm that the field you inserted is fraction of the similar sequence like the other fields. If you illustrate field codes (Alt+F9), is the identifier (the "name" subsequent to SEQ within the field code) the similar for every fields? If SEQ fields are within text boxes (otherwise frames), the numbering depends on sequence of text box anchors and not on the real placement of boxes within the document.

    For updating the cross-reference field, click it as well as press F9. If you desire to update the entire of the fields within your document, press Ctrl+A to select the whole document previous to pressing F9. To remove a cross-reference field, drag in excess of it and press the remove key. I hope that this is going to help you do the thing that you need to do. If it does not help you then reply back so that I can give you some other advice for that.

    It’s probable to bring up to date the auto-generated text for references similar to paragraph number. Unluckily this technique updates text of the entire cross references. For instance, if you encompass custom (manually edited) text for reference lying on picture, auto-update will regress the custom text toward automatic one together with additional auto-generated things. I have ended up through manual scanning for complete document intended for every cross references.

    The actual solution of this difficulty is as follows:
    1. First of all make a hyperlink on picture/table as standard.
    2. Choose unwanted auto generated text and craft it invisible (right click->Font->tick off "Invisible");
    3. Surround rest of noticeable hyperlink by means of ordinary text.
