What is Samsung Auto Backup And how to do it ?

Samsung Auto Backup is a software program which backs up files by creating two copies of them on your hard disk. This process allows for greater file safety and for easier file recovery. This can be done in two ways.
    1. Real-time mode: When a file or folder is modified or added, it is backed up directly at that moment by the user.

    2. Scheduled: When a file or folder is modified or added, it is backed up automatically at a specific time scheduled by the user.

    Samsung Auto Backup installation:

To install the Samsung Auto Backup, please follow the steps below:
    • Connect the Samsung External Hard Disk to your PC.

    • Select Install Samsung Auto Backup.

    • The following window appears as the install program begins to be processed.

    • Then click Next to proceed to the next screen.

    • The end user licence agreement will appear. Read this agreement carefully. If you agree to the terms and conditions of the user agreement, click Yes.

    • A window appears asking you to select a folder to install the Samsung Auto Backup. Browse to a folder and click Next.

    • A window appears asking you to select a program folder to add the Samsung Auto Backup icon. Select a folder and click Next.

    • A window appears displaying the installation progress.

    • When installation is complete, a screen appears asking you to reboot the system now or later. After making a selection, click Finish to complete the installation.

    Setting the backup settings:

Backup Settings: First you need to set your backup settings before using Samsung Auto Backup. By adjusting these settings, you can manage your backed up data more efficiently. The Backup Settings Wizard guides you through several procedures, including how to set the backup destination, the process options, file filter, and schedule.

After completing the installation: When you reboot the system after installation, the Setup Wizard is executed automatically.

After setting the backup settings: After setting the backup settings, you need to specify a backup source to perform the backup. On the backup destination screen, select the backup device. Then, click Next to specify the path to where the backed up data should be stored.

On the backup destination screen, you can choose the Samsung external hard disk that is connected. If the Samsung external hard disk is not connected, you can not choose it as the backup destination.

From the window below you can specify various backup options such as whether to compress the files, whether to store a backup history and whether to close the backup window after finishing the backup process.

From the window below you can set the file types you want to back up:
    • You can choose the File Filter using the file grouping and extension. For file grouping, you can define new file groupings other than the predefined file groupings.
    • If you don't set this option and click the Next button, all files will be backed up from your backup source.

Set Schedule option allows you to set a time at which to start the backup process. Click Add to set a new schedule.

Once you have made all your choices, click Finish to close the Backup Settings Wizard. Now, you are ready to start the backup process.

A program runs to show you information about the backup device, including used space and backup space, after the initial setting process.

    Performing the backup procedure:

    Taskbar Icon Screen:
The red bar in the below icon indicates the used space on the device, and the green bar indicates the available space on the device. You can see the detailed information about the device's space if you double-click the icon.

The screen shows the details of the used space and available space on the backup device. It displays total disc volume, used space, backup space, and available space.

    Backup:

To perform the backup procedure, please proceed as follows:
    • Press the Backup button on the tool bar or select Backup from the task menu.

    • Select the backup source to back up. Select the folders or files to back up in the source selection window.

    • Select Task > Backup from the menu bar, or click the Backup button on the icon bar.

NOTE: If the backup was not successful due to backup device access failure while the backup engine is running, the backup automatically runs again the next time the backup device is connected.
