How to remotely access iTunes library

I have concerning 160 GB at home, on my Windows computer. I utilize an Airport Extreme router. Is there any way for me to handle this library remotely on my Macbook Air so that I don't have to have all the music messing up this poor slight SSD hard drive? Please someone help me in this case. 1. Get an exterior hard drive. I just purchased 500 GB 2.5" hard drive for my Macbook Air, extremely small.
2. Twist the computer into an FTP server. Don't know how to perform it but I am certain others can assist you. May not be initiative for music though.
