Windows Media Player: wmploc.dll version 12.0.7600.16667 inplace of 12.0.7600.16415

Hello friends, when I try an effort to play a DVD with the help of the Windows Media Player a pop-up window comes into view with the given message: “The file wmploc.dll has a version number of 12.0.7600.16667 where 12.0.7600.16415 was expected. Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled”. It then asks me the question that to install the player through the MS web support, I then click on to the Yes button. But I did not find any of the detail. How do I solve this issue? Please help me.

The cause for this issue is the version of wmp.dll is out of sync with what is placed in the Windows registry. Also Windows Media Player gets you an error from wmploc.dll regarding the version number being wrong, for that first you restart the system and after rebooting open up the command prompt as an administrator with the help of the Start option from the task bar in that select the All programs option and from that select the Accessories. Right click to the command prompt and from that select the Run as administrator option. In that cmd you should type: “unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMPVersion” with no quote mark and then press enter. Restart the system now.

Also you first confirm that have you currently install the another Media Player. What you do is close the other applications and all its related content. After that go at the task bar and have the right click. Processes and distinguish if WMPlayer.exe is already running hidden. And you found if it is running or functioning with the other application then you should have to End Process on it.

Perform this to clear corruption and fix/restore damaged/missing system files. You have to run the DiskCleanup for that go at the Start button through the Windows taskbar, in that click to the All programs, from that go at the Accessories and then click your mouse to the system tools and then perform the Disk Cleanup. After that from the Start button, enter in to the search box “command” then right click on to the Run as Admin option and type: sfc /scannow and then hit Enter. Repair System Files with System File Checker

I think that Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Windows Media Player will help you:
Uninstalling the Windows Media Player: for that click on to the Start through the windows, after that go at the search box and enter "Turn Windows features On or Off". Look through to the Media Features and uncheck the mark ahead of Windows Media Player.
Reinstalling the Windows Media Player: for that click on to the Start through the windows, after that go at the search box and enter "Turn Windows features On or Off". Look through to the Media Features and check the mark ahead of Windows Media Player. Hope it helps.
