PowerPoint 2007 - Presentations on other Windows machines

It is not always easy to prepare all possible combination of software and computers. What to say and sometimes there is required to present a presentation and can not use a separate notebook, which must also be set to all possible situations - actually, regardless of whether the presentation with PowerPoint 2007 or another version was created. The first error may well be the assumption that is installed on any Windows computer and PowerPoint. In the current case, it was indeed PowerPoint 2003, because of a restrictive firewall but did not download and install the Compatibility Pack is possible. File in the new file format could not be opened. Is there any solutions for such things..??

In the simplest case, it would be possible to save the presentation even more at home in a format that can be opened on the external computer. In the case of all cases saving them as PDF-file is recommended. If all else fails and the presenter suddenly on a foreign computer takes to run under Linux, then at least this version works reliably. This is the add-in for Microsoft Office 2007 to save in PDF format is required. Both variants share on the remote computer that is ahead of a program that can either open the presentation or a PDF file. The safest way to play a presentation on another Windows machine (Windows 2000) but offers PowerPoint 2007 itself for transmission to the external computer PowerPoint can burn 2007, either a CD or necessary for playing files on a USB Stick transferred. The key: To play on the remote computer is no installation required, there is no power point required and compatibility problems even appear. PowerPoint also provides for the need to ensure that linked files are available: The originals will be copied and modified the links in the presentation accordingly.

The starting point is a complete and saved presentation. The format of the presentation is not important, it can be either the new format of PowerPoint 2007, or even the format of previous versions have. The command sequence Office button (lumps) -> Publish -> Package for CD Wizard to start the Package for CD. This offers the following settings:
    • Add Files In the presentations will be selected, the CD or on the stick to get to. Make sure that the file name of the presentation is free of special characters, and especially no points except the point mentioned before the file extension. To play with the integrated PowerPoint Viewer automatically creates a version that works with previous versions of PowerPoint 2007 is compatible. When more than one presentation is added, after which the playback order can be determined.
    • Under the default options set so that the viewer is integrated and also files linked to are to be included. These settings must not be changed. Of interest is the selection in the list box, select how presentations are reproduced in viewer: There is the settings file selection dialog box to automatically open the viewer recommend.
    • After that the decision whether to burn a CD or copied to a folder. "Copy to folder" After clicking to open a typical file dialog in which a location is set for the presentation files. recommend is an empty folder.
Then starts the export demand is a potential security because of the associated files are confirmed safe in most cases. After the export wizard is finished with the easy closing.

The procedure is identical to the steps that would be required on the remote machine. If a CD is burned, then this should be reported immediately after the insertion point and the selection of the presentations - if the settings have been selected properly. If chosen as a target a directory, the directory in Explorer and open the file pptview.exe started. In the above-described settings file dialog box opens with the list contained in the presentations: select, click Open, and starts the presentation.
