smtp.live.com on port 25 not working in mozilla thunderbird

I have hotmail account and use outlook 2007 to store all my mails. now I am trying to set my hotmail account in Thunderbird which is same as outlook.I can receive my emails. I have set up my account in Mozilla Thunderbird successfully but the problem is that smtp.live.com is not working so I cannot send or reply to emails through Thunderbird. pop3.live.com is working fine. The problem is with smtp.live.com. Do you have any suggestion what I need to change in order to send emails? Thank in advance for your valuable suggestions.Your effort would be appreciated.

Many factors effect sending message through mail clients. Some of the factors are listed below:
1. The settings you have done for smtp may be incorrect.
2. The windows firewall might be blocking mail client for outgoing messages which is blocked via your security software.
3. There may be firmware setting on your router to block certain ports such as 25.
4. Your Internet service provider block access to port 25.
If you are having issue with sending emails make sure that the factor listed above are not affecting to send messages. Contact your service provider if they are blocking port 25.

I too have the same problem when sending email using Thunderbird. I check all the factor mentioned above and try port 587 but still I am not able to send emails. I get the following message that sending of message failed and message could not be delivered as connecting to smtp.live.com failed. Please check that your smtp server setting is right and try again. My current setting for mozilla thunderbird are:
smtp.live.com port 587
using secure connection SSL

Test your connection by synchronizing after every change:
1. Clear IP Proxy
2. Connect to Internet and disable Router if any..
3. Check your Firewall and make sure that E-mail client to be "Allowed" by your Internet and Windows Firewall
4. Contact to your internet provider and ask them if they are blocking port 25 or 587 and ask them different port forwarding.
5. See that "My server requires authentication" is enabled. To do this follow the below steps:
- Click on tools and select Accounts.
- Choose your Hotmail account and click "Properties" button
- Click "Servers" tab, enable "My server requires authentication"
- select "Settings..." and select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" and select "OK."
- Sync your account.

Thunderbird users you just need to do following settings in your Thunderbird:
Go to “tools” and select “options” and then choose “privacy” and provide your password and edit saved passwords see if you have stored passwords then delete them.
