Transfer playcount from WMP10 to WMP12

    Hello!

My old computer died last week so I just bought a new one ( ). My old computer was running on XP with windows media player 10 and my new one is now with win7 and WMP12. My question is, how do I transfer my playcount (so my actual library) from my old computer to my new one. I already backup the file "CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb" but I can't manage to read it with WMP12.

    Any idea???

    Thanks!

    1. Close Windows Media Player
    2. Go to Start - Run and type: "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player". Press Enter.
    3. Make sure you can see the file with name "CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb". Rename it to "CurrentDatabase_219_old.wmdb". If you are unable to see this then go to Folder Options and enable "Show hidden files and folders" feature.
    4. Launch Windows Media Player by going to Start - Run and type "wmplayer.exe" and click OK. Look for your hard drive for your media files. For this, you have to go to Tools menu and then "Search for media files...".
    5. Type the location of your media files in the "Look in:" textbox and then click Search.
    6. Once completed, click Close.

Thanks for your quick answer, however I'm stuck at the 4th step... In WMP, If I go to tool, there is no "Search for media files...". It looks like it's only in WMP 10 and not 12 (which I'm actually interested about). I'm also a little curious how WMP12 will know to use the library from the file "CurrentDatabase_219_old.wmdb" following your technique.
