.NET 1.1 missing issue while installing application

I was trying to install an application and suddenly I got this message that is .NET 1.1 is missing and I was not able to install the application then. Please help me out so that I can make the changes to be worked and process well as needed. It will be helpful and I can then process for installing the application that I want to. I use Windows 7 on my desktop.
