How to create a .ISO File and burn a CD, via command-line

I am finding for some better option to burn a CD with the help of a command line tool. I tried searching Google for some specific commands but nothing much is found there. It is important to bear in mind that when we burn a disc then the source must be faster than the target, and must not contain errors. Is there a inbuilt utility on Windows XP to run this process. I am not able to burn a disc in normal mode. I also want to create some disc that can give me those CD's whic works both in Windows and Mac.

To burn an ISO image with the help of command line tool there you will need a simple utility called as cdburn.exe which his available in Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit. It is the command line program which can burn a ISO image file with Windows XP. I had created a batch file for that which is located in the folder C: \ Program Files \ Windows Resource Kits \ Tools \ cdburn.exe E:-erase C: \ WS2003CD \ image.iso to burn the iso.

There are some sites which offers you a ready made script like pcwIsofile, which run these two tools Cdburn.exe Dvdburn.exe and allows right-clicking. Simply copy these two Burn tools into the Windows \ System32 directory and run this script as soon as it dials an iso file that appears in the context of new entries. Try this out it can make your job easier.

Try to download and run CDBurn.exe. Other than this you can try EasyCD/DVD Creator. It gives you a right click option to burn directly a folder on a disc while CDBurn.exe is a dos utility which offers you to burn an iso image file on cd via command line. There are very few tools in this category so you might need to check for more options. Try a different burning tool.

There are some tools that gives you file format which works both in Windows and Mac. CD-Rs are typically created for Mac with HFS or HFS Plus, not ISO-9660, and WinNT uses a different system for long filenames (Joliet), UNIX (Rock Ridge). Some UNIX recognize the Joliet names, but Windows does not recognize Rock Ridge. So before burning you will need to choose a appropriate tool for that.

The most easy way is to create a universal disk and for that use the ISO-9660 level 1, with file names 8 3 and no special attributes. Some older versions of Mac OS and HP / UX will not give the desired results unless you burn the disc without the traditional and invisible version number. There is lot much issue when you try to create a disc and burn them for both operating system.

Have you heard about ISO-9660, this format is for Apple to create a file and the same is included in a file system ISO-9660. A common method to create a disk for both Mac and PC is the hard "hybrid" that contains both the file system ISO-9660 and HFS. To save space, data is shared between the two sections of the disc. This is possible because the entry points of directories in the ISO-9660 using an absolute offset, thereby pointing to the data of HFS filesystem.
