If the HD is in NTFS using Partition Magic for example to pass it in Fat32. The lock will go. It is an effective method. You can also install Linux to read the HD but good! You can also install ntfs.exe which will put in your XP Home Rights Management Pro.There is also a command line method but not if it's full HD is locked.Well, you can already do with it.

In effect the security tab is now doing for your case right click on the drive in question (If you have a disk to FAT32, this tab not.) If you need to abort become "owner" of the entire contents of hard drive in question to be Authorized to modify the rights then.
    1. install Microsoft disk tool
    2. install, to indicate the path C: \ WINDOWS during installation are
    3. Create a file "Reset_Prop-droits.bat"
    4. edit it with notepad and add this:
    Code:
       1. Cscript.exe / h: cscript
       2. xcacls "E" / O "PC-REMY-ROOM \ Administrators"
       3. cacls "E:" / C / T / G "Everyone": F
       4. Pause

In fact it is not about "access rights" despite the message. After searching the forums, this has resulted in the Vista partitioning utility is useful but there are tiny bugs like this. Proposed to reduce the size is well above what the utility supports. If Windows prevents you from accessing a file or directory with a message of "Access Denied" or "The user does not have access rights, it is probably a problem of permissions on the network or file system NTFS.

    check the steps:
    # Click on the item concerned with the right button, then choose Properties.
    # In the tab Security, click Advanced Settings.
    # If the Security tab does not appear in Windows XP Pro, on the Tools menu, choose Folder Options, then in the window click the View tab and uncheck "Use simple file sharing".

In the tab Owner, add that user as owner. Check the box "Replace owner on sub containers and objects", then validate. It is important to note that the option "deny"takes precedence over"authorize". Thus, it is preferable to uncheck "allow"rather than check"refuse". Moreover, if the affected user is part of several groups and that access is denied to one group, then access will be denied.
