    Event ID in System Log

    Hello,
I have a Windows server 2003 SP2. And in the observer of events I have a warning:
    Source: MRxSmb
    Event ID. : 3019
Description: The redirection failed to determine the type of connection.

What to do and what does this error explains? Any more help regarding this is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Event ID in System Log

On a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), when you map a network drive, or you connect to a network share using a UNC path name such as \ \servername\sharename, the following warning entry Log events can be entered in the system event log:
    Code:
Event ID: 3019 Source: MRxSmb Type: Warning Description: The redirector failed to determine the connection type.
Note The entry in Section FinalStatus c0000184 words of data entry event log results in the following:
    Code:
STATUS_INVALID_DEVICE_STATE, 'The device is not in a condition adequate to meet this demand. "

Re: Event ID in System Log

This problem can occur when NetBIOS over TCP / IP (NetBT) attempts to query a loopback adapter as the destination device to determine the network speed. The loopback adapter does not handle speed negotiation. Therefore, it can not negotiate the network speed. Note This problem is associated only with the TCP / IP, because it is the only protocol that uses the Loopback adapter.

Re: Event ID in System Log

To avoid the warning entry in the System event log, you can install an update for Windows XP SP2. This update is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Programs that connect to IP addresses in the loopback address range may not work as expected in Windows XP Service Pack 2. Note that this problem is resolved in the Tcpip.sys version 5.1.2600.2505 and later versions.

If you find the same warning entry in the system event log in an earlier version of Windows XP, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    Code:
315244 Error Message: The redirector failed to determine the type of connection
