To delete an instance of variable text inserted into a document, simply select that variable and press the Backspace or Delete key can also delete the variable itself. In doing so, decide how to replace the variables inserted in the document.
    1. Choose Type> Text Variables> Define.
    2. Select the variable and then click Delete.
    3. Specify how you will replace the variable defining another variable, making instances of the variable in text or delete all instances of the variable.

You should also know about converting text into text variables. you should keep the following points in mind :
    • To convert a single instance, select the variable text in the document window and then choose Type> Text Variables> Convert text variable.
    • To convert all instances of the variable text of the document, choose Type> Text Variables> Define, select the variable and then click Convert to Text.

Import text variables from another document, by following the steps :
    1. Choose Type> Text Variables> Define.
    2. Click Upload and then double-click the document that has the variables to import.
    3. In the Load dialog box text variables verify that a checkmark appears next to the variables to import. If an existing variable has the same name as one of the imported variables, choose one of the following variable in Conflict with existing text, and then click OK.
    4. Select OK and then click Done.

    • Using input definition Overwrites the existing variable with the variable load and apply the new attributes to the entire text of the current document using the previous variable. The definitions of input and existing variables are shown in the bottom of the Upload dialog box text variables, allowing a comparison.
    • Rename automatically Change the name of the variable charge.
