Yes, a migration from both Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 will be supported.

"You can only transition to Exchange 2010 from the following existing messaging systems:
    1- Exchange 2007 messaging system
2- Combined Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 messaging system

This suggests that if you are going to perform the upgradation from an Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007 organization , you can select to either transition the organization, or for migrating for a new one organization.Probably , you will need to retain the Exchange data from the already established organization, and so you should select to transition for Exchange 2010.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do in this case . You will have to perform the installation of an Exchange 2010 server into your Exchange 2007 organisation at initial stage and then after move the stuff over. Does it suggest that you have to purchase additional hardware? Not important to go for that. If you are running with a virtualized environment and Exchange 2007 (that is a 64-bit application) in place, you should be capable to go for the easy installation of different Virtual Machine with the Exchange 2010 integrated within the 2007 organization. After some section of time , coexistence to move components over, you can skip your Exchange 2007 servers.

This is impossible to upgrade an already running Exchange 2000 organization in the direct manner to the Exchange 2010. You have to first go for the upgradatin of Exchange 2000 organization to either the Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007 organization. After doing all these things, now you are able to go for the upgrade procedure of the Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007 organization to Exchange 2010. We would suggest that you need to upgrade your organization from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003 then after accomplish the upgrade procedure from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.That's all ..

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 are possible to be deployed within an Active Directory forest which contains an already contained messaging system. You are running with a coexistence situation, if the below suggested situation are absolutely true in this case :

    • Exchange 2010 is deployed in an already established Exchange organization.
    • Multiple Exchange version facilitates the messaging services to the organization.

If you are currently running with an Exchange Server 2003 back and you may need to skip the Exchange Server 2007 and go for directly to Exchange Server 2010. The simplest method to accomplish this is to just integrate Exchange Server 2010 into the already established Exchange Server 2003 background, a so known as intra-organizational migration. This is also called as the transitioning from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2010. But you know, it is impossible to do. in some case, it can be performed but you will get a lot of issues during procedure and after migration also..

Re: Is it possible to migrate from exchange 2003 directly to 2010

I am finding unable to verify the same as being the absolute answer but I am aware about it that in a transition from Exchange 2003 to 2007 you would move via the Exchange 2003 uninstall to delete the Exchange 2003 from Email service. Start-up the Exchange 2003 install disk and then after remove out the appropriate application. I guess that it would also applicable to be used Exchange 2010 transition also.
